Missoni for Target

Luxe Italian label, Missoni, debuted their made for Target line on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. I personally had to check it out for myself and I knew I had to go on the first day or I would be out of luck. On my drive to Target I was already hearing reports on the radio that ladies were fighting over the clothes in Miami, FL. Which is a more populated area in Florida than where I live, close to Sarasota, but I couldn't help picture my smaller town Target going nuts. As I began to worry, I kept seeing speeding cars past me. It made me feel paranoid that everyone was in a rush to get to Target. Once I got there everything looked normal, no lines trailing around the store, and best of all the parking lot didn't look congested. Once I got into the store, I had my choice of Missoni galore! I guess it was too early for the local fashionistas, but also my area has a large population of retired people that mostly hang out in shorts and tank tops (why am I here?). At first sight I saw sweaters, open cardigans, sweater dresses, blouses, and skirts in the signature Missoni zig-zag patterns in vibrant colors. So I grabbed what I liked so I can try them on (in the name of research). Sweaters and cardigans are from $49.99 and are well made in blends of rayon and cotton that are very soft and felt luxurious. They had matching sweater skirts but I thought they were too short for me and as it was pictured on their ads, I thought putting them together with a same pattern top was too much. If you plan on getting the skirt I would mix it with something else. Like my dear mother said to me later that day, the zig-zags remind her of a migraine when she sees zig-zags in her vision. She didn't understand the whole Missoni craze. She happen to be at the store that day shopping for bargains when she didn't know why people were going insane for these "wildly colored patterned items", and clearing the shelfs before her eyes. See, she lives in Miami, FL. where I just mentioned ladies were fitting for the clothes. She made me laugh. I got the shopping addiction gene from her but we shop in different stores!
Anyway, as I proceeded to take all the Missoni I could carry, I turned around and saw Missoni accessories. I found it was gonna be a not so easy task to try everything and just take one special item home, like I intended and budgeted myself to do! I saw wool hats, beanie knitted hats, large tote bags in a couple of patterns, and silk scarves, knit scarves, etc. I grabbed my favorites, which was the silk scarf (I intended to tie on a favorite purse), a endless knit scarf, and the 70's inspired brown wool hat. I thought the totes were of poor quality, well I hate bags made with vinyl, so I passed on those. I was on my way to the dressing room with more than I can carry (should of gotten a shopping cart!), when I was close to the shoe section and eyed a Missoni shoe box. "That's right!" I thought. The ballerina shoes were cute but I wasn't interested as much in having the shoes. The high heeled pumps were cute but I didn't like the heel. I like my platform heels, anything less is just an old lady shoe. The rubber boots were cute but I don't plan on gardening any time soon or wearing them in public. I would prefer an all black rubber boot if I were to wear one for fashion. So, I was done and I was on my way to the dressing room when I saw a lady with Missoni towels! Hello! I didn't know there was everything Missoni.
Finally, got to the dressing room before I started exploring for all of Target for Missoni finds. I have simpliest of taste so I really loved, loved, loved the blue and black open cardigan. Hands down the cutest piece. I really liked the multi colored button down cardigan in the light blue, brown, tan, peach color. It was a subdued color palette and I like that it had a matching silk scarf. I loved the hat but I figured that I already have a black one and that was all I needed (not so for a shopaholic but I have to tell myself that!). There was a black and white zig zag sweater dress that I loved but I didn't know where or when I would where it. It's Missoni, it will always be in style, so I'm thinking I might go back and get it (if any left)! There was a fall colors open cardigan made of 100% rayon, very soft and heavy, felt like it was worth $1000, but the colors reminded me to much of the colors of fall and I felt like a walking season. So from all my picks I finally chose a few items to take (so much for restrain). I chose the blue and black open cardigan (my favorite), the multi subdued colored button down cardigan, and the matching silk scarf.
Now, on the hunt for the rest of Missoni! I went to the home area. The bath towels I saw the ladies shopping cart, gone! I loved the black and white set, but I wasn't in the market for towels, but there were many designs and colors and very soft. I saw matching shower curtains, too! There was bedding, sheets, bathroom accessories, too much to mention, in the home area. At the makeup area, there was hair accessories, makeup bags, train cosmetic bags, etc. There was even stationary, toddler and kid's clothes, menswear, intimates (yes, even underwear!) On-line there were more choices, but I just took a look at the Target site and found everything is out of stock! Seems people were going nuts on-line too!
So, after my Target exploration and much enjoyed research, I found that everyone went crazy for the stuff (even the Target site went down) and that Missoni for Target it great quality and worth the modest price. I suggest getting at least one favorite piece and make it quick cause it's limited time. If you can't find Missoni for Target at your local store I hear there may be some on Ebay. Good luck!
